Description
In ancient Maori language, “poi” translates to “ball on a chord”, but we prefer to describe it as ancient performance art! What is Poi? Poi is a form of ancient Maori dance, where weights on the ends of tethers are swung through rhythmical patterns. The word “poi” comes from the Maori people of Aotearoa (also known as New Zealand). Poi dance is part of Maori cultural tradition and this workshop will not only share our important ancient cultures, but will also give you to the tools to make your own poi, learn to use it and take it home with you to keep.
